Getting the Air Conditioning healthy again.

Long ago, someone put a Window A/C in the bottom of the closet. It was on drawer runners. You pulled it out far enough to hang outside the trailer to operate. Sometime later, someone decided to just seal the A/C unit inside the closet, and put a old moble home water heater door vent on the outside, using silicone sealant as glue to attach it to the side of the trailer.

This was how I discovered it, with a nasty, globbed-on, rusty metal vent cover outside, and a burnt-out AC window unit inside.

They used a shoehorn to get it to fit!
First task was to get that eyesore outside vent replaced, with something else...like a refridgerator vent from Scamp. It was the right height, just a little wide.

To make things worse, the hole was cut flush to the door edge and through both upper & lower body shells. I would have to add some fiberglass back to made a clean opening.
Next came the new A/C. The Scamp Factory had installed A/C's in the closet but quit. It was hard to install a unit and allow enough outside air in to make it work properly. They had to make modifications to the A/C and give up too much closet space for ductwork. The trick was to find a unit narrow enough to fit and still allow outside air in the the top and sides. That's why I picked a 15" wide, 12" tall, 16" deep, 5000BTU Fridgidare window unit from Lowes.

Time to head inside to do some fixin' up...
